1. Grants
Federal Grant Programs
Two different grant programs are available if you qualify. The Pell Grant and the Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) are grants based on your financial need; they are not loans. The SEOG is limited, and is awarded during each federal program year until the funds are depleted. In addition, LA College International also participates in the Iraq/Afghanistan Service Grant Program, the Academic Competitiveness Grant Program and the National Smart Grant Program.
State Grants
LA College International students may be eligible to participate in state grants such as Cal Grant (for more information on the Cal Grant click here http://calgrant.org/) or other state grants. Please check with your states educational programs for more information.

3. Loans
Stafford Loans
Stafford loans are available through banks, credit unions, and savings and loan institutions at low rates. The interest rate on Stafford loans varies and repayment doesn’t begin until six months after you leave school or drop below half-time enrollment. The standard repayment term is 10 years (120 installments); a minimum payment of $50 per month is required per loan. Talk to an LA College Tuition Planner or visit www.direct.ed.gov to learn more.
Private Loans
Any balance not covered by Federal student aid, cash, and/or college scholarships and grants can be financed with an alternative loan. Your eligibility and interest rate will be based on your personal credit report. You are encouraged to apply with a co-signor to create a superior combined credit score and secure a preferred interest rate.
PLUS Loans
LA College is proud to work with a variety of lenders who participate in the PLUS loan program. PLUS loans are low interest loans for parents who wish to participate in financing their child’s education. Contrary to popular belief, PLUS loans are not contingent upon credit score alone. For more information please speak with your Tuition Planner.
4. Federal Work Study
Federal work-study is available if you have a demonstrated financial need and wish to work while earning your degree. Talk to your Tuition Planner to learn more.
5. Veterans Assistance and Vocational Rehabilitation
The Financial Aid Office can help you apply for Veterans Assistance and Vocational Rehabilitation Plans. You may qualify for college scholarships and grants. Benefits vary by plan and individual eligibility. Call 800-218-7274 for details.
6. Corporate Reimbursement or Direct Bill
If your employer offers a corporate reimbursement program, we’ll coordinate with them to establish a financial arrangement. Pending their approval, we can also directly bill them for tuition due.
7. Cash Payment Plan
We also allow you to make cash payments prior to the start of each class via a simple payment plan. Please ask your Tuition Planner about this option.
Other Accepted Forms of Payment
In addition to cash we accept checks, credit cards, and offer a convenient monthly payment system.
