File formats, target audiences, and content are explored. A brief introduction of the fundamentals of graphic design and typography will be covered to support the course.
A computer graphics and image system used in the communication and publishing industry. Introduction to the current hardware and software systems used for the fabrication of graphics for page layout, drawing, and image processing for the mass media. The student will learn Adobe Photoshop for bitmap-based graphics and Adobe Illustrator for vector graphics.
The student will be introduced to Quark Xpress. The course will present the basic organization of information through the use of typography as used to support the use of graphic elements in page layout preparation. The student will use acquired knowledge and skills to produce diverse printed materials.
This course focuses on the analysis and design of corporate identity. Projects will be centered on logotype and trademark development, signage systems, and business elements. The essential elements and foundation of graphic design such as layout and typography will be covered within this course.
This is an introductory course to the design of advertising for mass media and problem-solving communication. This course focuses on marketing and concept development by analyzing specific client needs. The students will develop headlines based on specific concepts and will integrate art and type to create effective and targeted advertising for both print and electronic media. A brief introduction to typography will be covered as it pertains to this course.
