

Ebrary Academic Complete has over 48,000 full text e-books online in many disciplines. Ebrary Academic Complete has approximately five (5) thousand business e-books, and several hundred e-books each in criminal justice and health care administration.
Ebrary does not have billing and coding books, nor does it have most classic literature books. The classic works are in the public domain and can be found on the Internet.
1) Use the Library forum site in Moodle, and click on the "Ebrary" link.
(You may also enter through Lac.edu. Move cursor over the "Library" tab and click, to reach the library home page.)
To enter Ebrary, click on "Ebrary (E-Books)" -- the first link on the library home page under "Electronic Resources."
2) Enter your barcode. If you do not have your barcode, email library@lac.edu.

4) You can read e-books and save e-books without downloading any software.
You have the option of downloading "ebrary Reader" for added functions which you may prefer. To download "ebrary Reader" press one of the buttons for "ebrary Reader" which you can see on e-books or e-book title results.
Downloading Ebrary Reader should take 1-2 minutes.
Use a newer browser, such as Internet Explorer 6 or newer, and be sure your pop-up blocker is turned off.

II. "QUICKSEARCH" AND "EBRARY READER" ("MY SETTINGS")
1) With "QuickSearch" you can
Search for e-books quickly without downloading any software.
Obtain keyword search results broken down by e-book chapters, as well as e-books or text.
2) The Library considers the "eBrary Reader" setting to be the better option for searching for keywords inside an e-book.
3) You can choose whether to use "QuickView" or "ebrary Reader."
Press "My settings" link in upper right corner.
4) You may now access your perosnal bookshelf and save e-books in either the "eBrary Reader" setting or the "QuickView" setting.
III. TO SEARCH EBRARY FOR E-BOOKS
1) For quick searching, you can use "QuickView" to search for e-books without downloading.
2) "Simple" searches use keyword or text search. It finds your keyword(s) in the text of e-books. The passages found with your keyword may or may not actually relate to your topic.
Be especially specific in your keyword searches, to obtain relevant results.
3) In order to search for e-books in specific title, author, subject topics, or international serial book number (ISBN), press "advanced" hyperlink.
Set category on menu, for example, search by subject.
Drop down menu is now set to search by subject.
You can set additional drop down menus and enter additional search terms, as shown below.
Example of search with more than one search word:
Click the "Search ebrary" button.
4) You will obtain one or more e-book title results. Click on an e-book hyperlink title.
IV. TO NAVIGATE AND SEARCH INSIDE AN E-BOOK
The screenshots illustrate how to navigate inside e-books with the "eBrary Reader" setting, which some people consider to be more reliable and effective.
1) You can use the table of contents and click on any chapter in many e-books, to move to the chapter you select, and begin reading there.
Press "InfoTools" on the toolbar above the e-book page.
Menu for "Info Tools" will drop down. Press "search document" from dropdown menu, and release.
Enter your keyword into the little search box which appears. Example is search by keyword, "corporations."
The "eBrary Reader" engine finds an e-book page with your keyword, and displays the keyword highlighted in red.
V. TO SAVE YOUR E-BOOKS
1) Enter Ebrary, and press "bookshelf" tab.
2) If you are using "QuickView," press the "Add to My Bookshelf" button.
3) If you are using the "eBrary Reader" setting, use "InfoTools" and press "Add to Bookshelf" in the drodown menu (inside "ebrary Reader") to save e-book titles with your notes and hightlights in the e-book.
You may access the e-book anytime later, whenever you login to your personal e-bookshelf.
VI. TO HIGHLIGHT AN E-BOOK ONLINE
1) Use either "ebrary Reader" or "QuickSearch" to highlight and save passages in an e-book.
Example below shows how to make highlights in the "eBrary Reader" setting.
2) Once you already have found an e-book (or e-book page), press "InfoTools" on the toolbar above the book page, and press "highlight" and then "toggle highlighting" on the dropdown menus which appear.

VII. TO MAKE NOTES ON AN E-BOOK - in "eBrary Reader" only
1) Use "ebrary Reader" in order that you can make notes.
2) Press the "Notes" tab above panel left of e-book page. (See screenshot below.)
3) A space will appear at the bottom of the middle window, to enter notes here.
4) Place cursor in this area and type your notes.
You can enlarge e-book pages in either the "eBrary Reader" or in "QuickView" setting. Examples here show how to enlarge an e-book page in the "eBrary Reader" setting.
1) Once you have found an e-book page, you may want to enlarge the e-book page to make it easier to read. Press the icon with the magnifying glass on the toolbar above the e-book page.
2) A dropdown menu will appear. Press the enlargement offered, 100%, 150% or 200%.
3) If you desire to see even more of the e-book page, use your mouse to move your cursor on the screen to the boundary between one of the three panels. A small double-sided arrow will appear.
4) Press down on left side of mouse and hold your finger down. Slide your mouse left, until you make one of the windows to the left of the e-book page smaller. This will make the window or panel to the right wider.
5) The type is larger and you can see more of the book page. It may be easier to read.
IX. TO PRINT PAGES FROM EBRARY
1) For best results, use the "print" icon in the toolbar above the e-book page. This screenshot was captured in the "eBrary Reader" setting.
