

Students, faculty, and educational staff may use the online library resources in the Library forum site through LAC's Moodle classrooms.
Once you log into your LAC courses in Moodle, you do not need to log in to the Library site in Moodle.
The illustration below shows where to enter the online Library from a Moodle course page.
You will see the library forum site, with library tutorials and online library resources featured on the left side of the page. You are welcome to participate in the library forum on library and research issues.
LAC Library online can be found at Lac.edu.
Move your cursor over the "Library" tab, and click on the "Library" tab on the LAC home page, to reach the online library web page.
The library web site has
1) Ebrary, with e-books
2) LIRN, with general and business periodical journals online
3) ProQuest, with criminal justice and health care administration journals online
4) Encyclopedia Britannica Academic Online
5) Web reference sources and web sites for each degree program

E-BOOKS - EBRARY ACADEMIC COMPLETE
Ebrary Academic Complete has approximately 38,000 e-books in a variety of professional and general educatonal fields.
Ebrary does not have billing and coding e-books, nor most classic literature. Classic literature e-books can be found in the public domain, on the Internet.
You may open the following hyper link, to read and consider the advantages as well as disadvantages of using e-books over printed books available in traditional academic libraries.
To access Ebrary,
1) Use the Library forum in Moodle, and click on the "Ebrary" link.
(You may also enter through Lac.edu. Move cursor over the "Library" tab and click, to reach the library home page.)
To enter Ebrary, click on "Ebrary (E-Books)"-- the first link on the library home page under "Electronic Resources."
2) Enter your barcode. If you do not have your barcode, email library@lac.edu.
3) You will see the Ebrary home page for LA College International.
4. If you have difficulties with Ebrary, check whether your computer has the system requirements for Ebrary.

With your personal e-bookshelf, you can save hyper links of your favorite e-books onto the Ebrary server, and return anytime, twenty-four yours a day, seven days a week.
PERIODICALS - LIRN ARTICLES FOR RESEARCH
LIRN has periodicals, journal articles and resources in a variety of disciplines in InfoTrac, ProQuest, Credo Reference, and eLibrary.
This is the main menu in LIRN.
LIRN database articles are less commercialized than many items on the open Internet. LIRN periodcial articles are based on fewer biased sources, and a significant number of articles are checked and reviewed by academic experts in their professional fields.
To access LIRN,
1) Enter LIRN either through the Library Forum in the Moodle class platform, through Lac.edu, or directly through the LIRN web site.
(Note: It is not possible to log in through the Gale login links in IntroTrac resources in LIRN.
A) In Moodle, enter the Library Forum, and enter LIRN at the hyperlink shown below.
After you log in to Moodle, the LIRN pass code will be listed next to the LIRN link or inside your Profile.
B) To enter LIRN through Lac.edu, move your cursor over the "Library" tab, and click on the "Library" tab, to reach the online library web page.
PROQUEST CRIMINAL JUSTICE & HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT
ProQuest has periodicals and scholarly journals for news and research in the Criminal Justice and Health Care Administration fields.
LAC Library has additonal ProQuest resources to support business and general education, which are available through LIRN inside the "LIRN (Periodicals)" hyperlink on the Library home page.
To access ProQuest,
1) Use the Library Forum in Moodle, and enter ProQuest, as shown.
After you log in to Moodle, the ProQuest user ID and password will be listed next to the ProQuest link, or it may be listed in your profile.
(You may also enter through Lac.edu. Move cursor over the "Library" tab and click, to reach the library home page.)
Click on the hyperlink on the library home page to enter ProQuest, "ProQuest Health Management and Criminal Justice."
2) When prompted, enter Login ID and Password.
LAC students may obtain login information for ProQuest from the Library page in Moodle or by mailing library@lac.edu.
REFERENCE SOURCES AT LAC LIBRARY
1) Encyclopedia Britannica Academic Online
The Encyclopedia Britannica online has almost 100,000 encyclopdia articles found in the print edition, as well as Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesuarus.
This online subscription also has an atlas, some videos, and Internet web sites selected by the Encyclopedia Britannica staff.
Enter Encyclopedia Britannica here or on the library home page, and enter your assigned barcode.

2) Check out and explore "Credo Reference" in LIRN. Enter LIRN database, and press "Connect to Credo Reference" to enter. Credo Reference in LIRN has a variety of reputable online reference sources, such as dictionaries, encylopedias, biographies, and more.
You may also try "Gale Virtual Reference Library" in LIRN. Press"Connect to InfoTrac" on the main LIRN menu after login, and choose "Gale Virtual Reference Library."
Enter "Dictionaries," "Encyclopedias" or "Almanacs" as subjects or as part of title, in the "Advanced" section.
4) LAC Library has Internet web sites with reference sites selected by the LAC library staff.
You can also browse the menus shown below for LAC web resources.
You can also search and find web sites with the Google site search engine shown below.
To get there, click on the fifth link, "Reference Web Site Resources" on the library home page, www.lac.edu/library.
