

I. ENCYCLOPEDIA BRITANNICA ACADEMIC ONLINE
The Encyclopedia Britannica online has almost 100,000 encyclopdia articles found in the print edition, as well as Merriam-Webster Collegiate Dictionary and Thesuarus, some videos, and Internet web sites..
You may reach the online Encyclopedia Britannica at the Library forum site in Moodle. Look on the left side of the Library Moodle page.
You may also enter the online Encyclopedia Britannica on the library home page.
Click on the "Encyclopedia Britannica Academic Online" hyperlink.
Enter your "card number" on the login page, and press the "Login" button.
Your "card number" here is the same as your assigned Ebrary bar code.
If you do not have your assigned barcode, email
library@lac.edu.
After login, you'll see the Encyclopedia Britannica Academic Online search page.
Set the "toggle switch" search either the Encyclopedia Britannica or the Merriam-Webster Dictionary & Thesaurus. Then, enter a search as shown.

You can save encyclopedia articles and other research items into a personal workspace and return to access them.
"Credo Reference" in LIRN contains a wide variety of online reputable reference sources, such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, and biographies, plus some reference sources in other categories, as well as an online bible.
To access "Credo Reference," enter LIRN, and press "Connect to Credo Reference."
Credo Reference opens to this search page.
Browse and explore Credo Reference, and open one of the reference sources.

III. GALE VIRTUAL REFERENCE LIBRARY in LIRN
Enter LIRN for "Gale Virtual Reference Library." Press "Connect to InfoTrac" and choose "Gale Virtual Reference Library."
(LIRN login code for LAC can be obtained from the LAC Library site in Moodle for LAC students or by emailing library@lac.edu.)
Enter LIRN database for eLibrary" (not Ebrary). Click on "Connect to "eLibrary" for some reference sources.
Find dictionaries, encyclopedias, or an almanac.
Click on the first link "Ebrary (E-Books)" on the library home page, www.lac.edu/library, and enter your assigned barcode.
You can search for "Dictionaries," "Encyclopedias" or "Almanacs" in Ebrary.
Use the "Advanced" search shown in green.
Set the drop down menu to "Subjects."
Enter "Encyclopedias" or "Dictionaries." Then, press "Search ebrary."
Browse for reference source you need. One of the encyclopdias is shown here.
Find web sites on reference topics or your degree major which have been selected by faculty or the LAC library staff.
Open the link, "Reference - Web Site Resources..." on the LAC Library web page www.lac.edu/library, or at the Library Forum in Moodle.
Review the menus below, or use the Google site search engine pictured below.

Broswe the first three or four resource files and open one.
Carefully broswe the web site resources on your topic. Most files will have no more than three to ten web sites. Review and open one!
