Covers fundamentals of marketing including exploring the meaning of marketing, consumer behavior, market segmentation, marketing ethics, and environmental influences impacting the market managers.
Understanding entrepreneurship, thinking entrepreneurially, customer-driven philosophy, entry & growth strategies, marketing the business: product, price, promotion, and placement; the art of selling including sales styles and techniques, traits of successful salespeople, and the sales and marketing interaction.
Financing your business includes money sources, e.g., bootstrapping, family, SBA loans, angels, VCs, etc. Accounting for small business including overview of financial statements, keeping books and records, budgeting and cash flow management. Legal aspects of your business including legal structure of the business, government regulations & taxes, business ethics, managing risk, intellectual property rights, contracts & leases, business succession and estate planning and employee issues. Also includes negotiations and deal making.

This class includes case studies related to small business. The lab part of this class will include students developing specific strategies to launch their specific industry small businesses. Students will utilize business pro-software for the launch of their businesses.
The Associate of Arts Degree in Business Management-Small Business Management is a comprehensive 18-month program that teaches business fundamentals with a special emphasis in Small Business Management.
