

Students, faculty, and educational staff may use the online library resources in the Library forum site through LAC's Moodle rooms.
To access the online Library resources in Moodle, you may click on "LA College Library - Open Forum for Library Topics."
You may also access LAC Library from any of your Moodle courses. Click on the "LAC Library" link under "My Resources," on the right side of your course page.
You will see the library forum site, with library tutorials and online library resources featured on the left side of the page. LAC students and faculty are welcome to participate in the library forum on library and research issues.
When prompted by Ebrary, re-enter your Moodle User ID and password, to access Ebrary. Most other online Library resources open seamlessly and do not require a password, after you are logged inside Moodle.
LAC Library online can be reached through Lac.edu.
On Lac.edu, click the link, "Current Students" on right side of Lac.edu page.
This will open to the student portal.
Move your cursor over the "Library" heading link, and click to reach the LAC online library web page.
Links to most online library resources on this Library web page will link to the Library room in Moodle, and you will be able to enter the library resources seamlessly, after you are logged inside to Moodle.
Ebrary requires that you re-enter your Moodle User ID and password, after you are logged in to Moodle. Your computer's browser will usually remember your password, in which case, you'll be able to enter right in, without being prompted for your log in again.

EBRARY ACADEMIC COMPLETE - E-BOOKS
Ebrary Academic Complete has approximately 68,000 full text e-books in a variety of professional and general educatonal fields.
Ebrary's e-book resource collection contains several thousand business related e-books, several hundred e-books on criminal justice, and several hundred e-books on health care administration.
Ebrary does not have ICD-9, HCPCS, and CPT reference works, nor most course textbooks, nor most classic literature. Classic literature e-books can be found in the public domain, on the Internet.
To access Ebrary:
1) Use the Library forum in Moodle, and click on the "Ebrary" link.
(You may also reach Ebrary through the Library web page through the Student Portal, which you can reach through the "Current Students" hyperlink in Lac.edu.
Once you reach the Library web page, click on "Ebrary (E-Books)"-- the first link on the library home page under "Electronic Resources."
2) When prompted by Ebrary, enter your Moodle log in information, to enter Ebrary.
3) When you log in, you will see the Ebrary home page for LA College International.

5. There is no need to download special software in order to read e-books in Ebrary. Use "QuickView." (Ebrary opens to "QuickView.") Begin your searches with the "Search" tab.
6. Use the "Bookshelf" tab in Ebrary to save e-books, after you have searched for e-books.
With your personal e-bookshelf, you can save hyperlinks of your favorite e-books onto the Ebrary server, and return anytime, twenty-four yours a day, seven days a week. You can also make highlights and notes in e-books for your research and see them in your personal bookshelf.
LIRN - PERIODICAL ARTICLES FOR RESEARCH
LIRN has periodicals, journal articles and resources in a variety of disciplines in InfoTrac, ProQuest, Credo Reference, and eLibrary.
LIRN database articles are less commercialized than many items on the open Internet. LIRN periodcial articles are based on fewer biased sources, and a significant number of articles are checked and reviewed by academic experts in their professional fields.
To access LIRN:
1) You can enter LIRN in several ways: through the Library Forum in the Moodle, through Lac.edu, or through the LIRN web site.
A) If you are in Moodle, enter the Library Forum, and press the grey LIRN button shown below.
You can connect to LIRN without a code, after you are logged in to Moodle.
B) To enter LIRN through Lac.edu, click on "Current Students" hyperlink on Lac.edu, to reach the
student portal. Then click on the Library link to reach the Library web page.
Once on the library home page, click on the "LIRN (Periodicals)" link.
2) After entry into LIRN, you will see the main menu in LIRN.
To go to LIRN resources, click on the grey buttons on the right.
In LIRN, you may use LIRNSearch on the main LIRN menu, to search all databases in LIRN at once. You can also search in individual vendor's resources in LIRN.
3) When ever possible, check the little box to limit your results to documents with full text. This is in order to obtain complete articles which provide enough information for your research.
4) Once you find articles you want to keep for your research, most resources in LIRN and ProQuest allow you to print articles, email articles, make citations, and share articles in social media sites.
PROQUEST CRIMINAL JUSTICE & HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT PERIODICALS
ProQuest has periodicals and scholarly journals for news and research in the Criminal Justice and Health Care Administration fields.
LAC Library has additonal ProQuest resources to support business and general education, which are available through LIRN inside the "LIRN (Periodicals)" hyperlink on the Library home page.
To access ProQuest:
1) You can enter PROQUEST either through the Library Forum in the Moodle or through Lac.edu.
A) If you are in Moodle, you can access ProQuest in the Library discussion forum room.
No pass code is needed after you are logged in to Moodle.
B) To enter ProQuest through Lac.edu, click on "Current Students" hyperlink in Lac.edu, to reach the
student portal. Then, click on the Library link to reach the Library web page.
Next, click on the hyperlink on the library web page to enter "ProQuest Health Management and
Criminal Justice.") You will be prompted to log in to Moodle to access ProQuest in the Library room
in Moodle. No further pass code is needed.
3) To perform basic searches, enter your search word in the search engine box.
Be sure to place a check mark in the little box for full text to obtain a article, so it can provide information you need for your research.
Then, click the magnifying glass in ProQuest, or press "Enter" on your keyboard.
4) After you find an article you want to save, you can email the article to yourself or others, print the artile, obtain a citation, or save the article to a file on your computer.
REFERENCE SOURCES AT LAC LIBRARY
1) Encyclopedia Britannica Academic Online
The Encyclopedia Britannica online has almost 100,000 encyclopdia articles found in the print edition, as well as Webster's Collegiate Dictionary and Thesuarus.
This online subscription also has an atlas, some videos, and Internet web sites selected by the Encyclopedia Britannica staff.
To access Encyclopedia Britannica:
Enter Encyclopedia Britannica here or on the library home page. Enter the assigned same bar code. It is the same as your Ebrary bar code.
Encyclopedia Britannica Academic Online search page:
2) Check out and explore "Credo Reference" in LIRN. Enter LIRN database, and press "Connect to Credo Reference" to enter. Credo Reference in LIRN has a variety of reputable online reference sources, such as dictionaries, encylopedias, biographies, and more.
You may also try "Gale Virtual Reference Library" in LIRN. Press"Connect to Gale InfoTrac" on the main LIRN menu after login, and choose "Gale Virtual Reference Library."
Inside Ebrary, you can enter "Dictionaries," "Encyclopedias" or "Almanacs" as subjects or as part of title, inside the "Advanced" link.
4) LAC Library has reputable reference sources, Encyclopedia Britannica and Credo Reference, as well as Internet reference web sites selected by the LAC library staff.
